Tap Dancing Level 3 on Wednesdays in January at River House

For the experienced tap dancer with a good command of tap technique and vocabulary this intermediate level class emphasizes choreography. Practice includes a variety of time steps, more syncopated rhythms, developing speed with clarity, and performance quality. Choreography includes new work and some dances from the Matanzas Tap performance repertory.
Class sessions will be held on Wednesdays, January 8, 15, 22, 29 from 1:30 to 3:00 pm at River House (179 Marine Street, St. Augustine 32084).

In this fun, hands-on course you will learn about the history of Herbalism and the many ways herbs can be incorporated in our daily lives. Every week we will look at different types of herbs and their applications.
You will put what you have learned into practice by creating your own take-home product to enjoy.

Tai Chi and Qigong on Thursdays in January at River House

Tai Chi Easy™ for Health and Vitality is a simplified method of Tai Chi. If you have tried other tai chi forms and couldn’t stick with it give this one a try. It is readily accessible and adaptable for anyone, even those who are dealing with chronic pain and other conditions. Developed by Dr. Roger Jahnke, O.M.D., Tai Chi Easy™ incorporates elements of both Tai Chi and Qigong. This method is easy to learn. There is no need to spend years learning the 108 traditional movements of long form Tai Chi to reap the benefits of the practice.
Key Principles: Do the practices as best you can. Have fun. Practice in your personal comfort zone. Modify and adapt for your body’s needs. Practice the “Three Intentful Corrections” of body, breath, & mind: Posture & Movement Breath Mindful awareness, Meditation and Massage.
Dress comfortably and wear sneakers or any rubber sole shoe and bring a water bottle.
Sharon Infante is Medical Qigong Practitioner (MQP), an IIQTC and UHT certified in Tai Chi, Qigong, Daoyin Yoga, meditation and Sound Frequency. She has been teaching for more than 20 years. She enjoys bringing Tai Chi Gong and Sound Healing Meditation to communities, hospitals, schools, health festivals so that they may benefit from the combined benefits of the body, mind, spirit connection.

Spanish for Fun and Travel on Mondays in January at River House
with Abigail Dyer
Spanish for Fun and Travel is a mixed-level class for beginning and intermediate students. Beginners will learn essential grammar, rules of pronunciation, and words and phrases useful to travel. Intermediate students will be encouraged to use those same words and phrases as starting points for free-form conversation, with attention to grammar and pronunciation.
Abigail Dyer has a BA in Spanish Language and Literature from Vassar College and a Ph.D. in European History from Columbia University. She is fluent in Spanish and German, has lived and worked in Spain and Germany, and has decades of experience teaching foreign languages.
Bring pen and paper for taking notes.

iPhone, How to Set Up Emergency Medical ID on Monday, January 13 in January at River House
with Kai Long
Setting up Emergency Medical ID which provides information about you, such as allergies, medical conditions, prescription drugs, blood type and other health information that may be important in an emergency. This can be accessed when your iPhone is locked by Ambulance medics! Once this is set up, your iPhone can display health information so that it’s available for someone attending to you in an emergency. Your emergency contacts can then be notified. Please bring a list of your meds and information on emergency contacts (address, phone number, etc.)
This one day class session will be on January 13 from 12:45 to 1:45 at River House (179 Marine St. St. Augustine 32084)

Singing on Tuesdays in January at River House
with Abigail Dyer
Group singing class is focused on the basics of classical singing technique. You'll learn exercises to improve your breath control as well as your vocal strength, range and clarity. You'll also have a chance to apply your new technique to the repertoire of your choice.
Please bring two printed copies of the sheet music for a song of your choice to work on over the course of the month. Students of all levels are welcome.
Singing teacher and classical singer Abigail Dyer was born in West Orange, New Jersey. With a private voice studio in St Augustine Beach and over 20 years' experience teaching opera professionals and amateur singers alike, Abby specializes in developing healthy vocal technique in the service of expressive singing.
Abby is a graduate of Vassar College (BA) and Columbia University (MA, M.Phil., Ph.D.), and the Mannes College Wagner Theater Program.
Class sessions will be held Tuesdays, January 14, 21, 28 from 10:15 to 11:15 at River House (179 Marine Street, St. Augustine 32084)

Mandala Art on Wednesday, January 15 at River House
with Viktoria Koval
Enjoy mindful focus as you create your own dot MANDALA. We will paint using plastic sticks/dotting tools instead of brushes with non toxic acrylic paint. All painting supplies are provided.
Mandalas, meaning “circles” in Sanskrit, are sacred symbols that are used for meditation, prayer, healing and art therapy for both children and adults. Mandalas have been shown in clinical studies to boost the immune system, reduce stress and pain, lower blood pressure, promote sleep and ease depression.
Viktoria Koval is a local artist based in St.Augustine. She creates art with dots using plastic sticks or stylus instead of brushes. Her favorite medium is acrylic on wood, canvas, ceramics, glass, jewelry, magnets, sculpture, just about anything mandala can be painted on.
Class session is on Wednesday, January 15 from 2 to 4 at River House (179 Marine Street)
