Gentle Yoga on Mondays in April at River House

This dynamic yet gentle class is for all ages, accommodating beginners as well as those who want to deepen their practice. Using teaching demonstrations and detailed guidance, each class proceeds in a safe and slow way to instruct the basics of (Kripalu) yoga postures, breathwork and meditation. Plenty of modifications and variations will be given for different body types.
Classes are 90 minutes and include an opening centering, gentle warmups, postures (asanas), breathwork (pranayama), and a long closing relaxation (yoga nidra).
Please bring your own yoga mat, water bottle, and blanket or cushion to sit on.
Scott Farber, Ph.D., E-RYT 500/YACEP. Scott has been practicing yoga, meditation, and t'ai chi since the 1970s. A former college professor, with a doctorate in philosophy of education, he has traveled and taught all over the world. He now serves as a lead trainer in the Discovery Yoga School, offering a variety of yoga classes, workshops and teacher trainings.

Dance Synergy on Mondays in April at River House

Love music? Love to dance? Learn the fundamentals of dance while strengthening your core and improving your overall fitness level. Dance Synergy will explore various styles of dance to include ballet, jazz, aerobic dance and more. Each class will include 30 minutes of Ballet Barre, 30 minutes of dance skills and 30 minutes of fun choreography. No previous dance experience required. Ballet slippers or jazz shoes are highly recommended.
Mary has been teaching dance or fitness for most of her adult life. She is an experienced, ACE certified Group Fitness Instructor (GFI). She teaches classes and takes classes because she simply loves dance, movement and fitness and she loves to help others learn and improve their health.

Tap Dancing for the Beginner on Mondays in April at River House

For the absolute beginner, this class includes an introduction to the basics of tap dance. Emphasis is on finding the beat of the music and moving to it while performing single and double sound fundamentals with clarity at slow to moderate tempos. It is a fun, active class with plenty of movement.

Ballet on Mondays in April at River House

For beginners and experienced dancers who love classical ballet and the meditative focus it demands. Emphasis in this class will be on understanding the ideals of ballet within the confines of our mature and varied body types, building the strength and flexibility that support the technique, and the presentational qualities ballet demands. The class will include barre and center work but will not include jumps or turns unless members of the class request them. Alternative movement will be provided for those who are not comfortable with turns or jumps.
Ballet shoes are recommended.

Tai Chi on Tuesdays and Thursdays in April at River House

Learn basic Tai Chi moves for stability, coordination and health.
Master Andrew Schirmacher began his studies of Chinese martial arts in 1973. He has studied Tai Chi Quan, Xing Yi and Kung Fu. He will be teaching classes in Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan and Qi Gong.
Tai Chi practice for health and wellness promotes balance control, flexibility, stress relief and cardiovascular fitness. Tai Chi, with its gentle, graceful pace and low impact movements, can be learned and practiced by virtually anyone.
Requirements for class:
Loose fitting clothes that allow you move freely.
- Non-marking shoes, preferably sneakers. (Most non-marking shoes will have a white or light-colored sole that will be less likely to leave dark marks. They will also be soft-soled.)
- Water bottle (optional)
- Small towel (optional)
Class sessions will be held on both Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 4, 6, 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, 27 from 11:15 to 12:15 at The River House (179 Marine Street, St. Augustine)

Line Dance on Tuesdays in April at River House

Come learn the fun dance art of Line Dance with a lively variety of music including Pop, Country, and Latin.
Wear comfortable shoes, preferably with leather bottoms.
Ramona is the former owner of Mona Gail Dance Center. She studied Ballroom dance under Jack Kalan and became a teacher at the age of sixteen. While working with Fred Astaire she became the Tri-State Dance Director. Ramona is a multi National Championship winner. She has experience in choreography and her local students won first place in the "I Love Dance Competition" at World Golf Village in 2020.

Rebecca Dawson is a 500 ERYT Experienced Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist who has been teaching yoga for 20 plus years. She received her Yoga Therapist license in 2014 after studying with International Yoga Therapist, Gary Krafstow. She enjoys bringing yoga and meditation to her students so that they may benefit from the combined benefits of the body, mind, spirit connection.
Class sessions will be held on Wednesdays, April 5, 12, 19, 26 from 10:30 - 11:30 at The River House (179 Marine St. St. Augustine 32084)
