with Nicole Diehm

Calendar Feb 11, 2026 at 1 pm, runs for 1 week

We all know the Spanish and British were in St. Augustine and Henry Flagler helped build the city to what it has become. But did you know there is a buried treasure in the Oldest City? How about the hat wearing horses in the Easter parade? What about the time Nikita Khrushchev’s doppelganger visited? Giants in the streets, aerial acrobatics, political drama, unsolved murders, an unidentified sea monster on the beach, all this and more are lesser-known stories, but no less an important part of the city’s history.

Nicole Diehm is the Head Librarian and Curator of the St. Augustine Historical Society and oversees the incredible library staff of the Research Library. She has worked for over a decade in museums and libraries. Nicole received her M.A. in History from Florida Gulf Coast University and her M.I.S. from Florida State University. She also graduated with a Digital Archives Specialist certificate from the Society of American Archivists. Currently, Nicole works in collaboration with local institutions including Flagler College, UF and Governor’s House, Fruitland Peninsula Historical Society, Jacksonville History Center, and the Beaches Museum.
