She was in private practice for over 20 years including: Shiatsu, acupuncture, herbal medicine, and nutrition. Certified in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction with Jon Kabat-Zinn. Certified in Qi Gong with Master Robert Peng. Emotional Freedom Technique training with Dawson Church PhD.

St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Presentation on Wednesday, October 22 at River House

Ever wondered what amenities are available to St. Johns County residents? Did you know that there are nearly 50 public parks in the county? Also, there are community centers as well as youth and adult activities. Ryan Kane, from the St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Department, will be at River House to discuss the various amenities available to you.

Ryan Kane joined St. Johns County Parks and Recreation in 2021 after having served over 20 years in municipal parks and recreation administration. Prior to joining St. Johns County, Ryan served as Director of Recreation for the Town of Concord, MA, and Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation for South Windsor, CT. He holds a bachelor's degree in Sports Management and a Master of Business Administration, both from Southern New Hampshire University.
This program will be held on Wednesday, October 22 from 2 to 3 at River House (179 Marine St. St. Augustine)

“Health is Wealth” So where and how do I start?
In this class we will focus on Health Promotion and Not Disease Treatment. How to begin making healthier food and lifestyle choices which we know it can be a challenge for us. We hear to eat this, not that. Move this way not that way. This is bad for you. You must do this and go there. Old habits die hard. So where do you begin?
We will explore:
- Nutrition & Health that is “practical” and obtainable
- Focus on healthy food options, review food groups and beverages
- Learn Steps to shape your personal plan
- Explore activities to enhance your lifestyle
You will be provided with:
- A sample day food plan
- How to do somatic shaking
- A list of suggested resources
- How to create better sleep habits
- Recipes
October's focus will be on Liver and Detoxification.
This one day class will meet on Monday, October 27 from 2 - 3 at River House (179 Marine St. in St. Augustine)

But what is Fire Cider and how do you make it? In this class, you will learn about the potential benefits of Fire Cider, easy recipes for making your own, and ways you can incorporate Fire Cider into your daily routine to enhance wellness.
James is a Professor of Biological Sciences at St. Johns River State College, Master Herbalist and Personal Chef.
