Subtractive Colored Pencil Drawing Workshop on Thursday, August 7 at River House

*Subtractive drawing** is a technique where the artist starts with a dark surface or a fully shaded area and then removes or erases parts of it to create the image. It's similar to sculpting in clay, but done with drawing tools like erasers or blending stumps and adding color with colored pencils. Artists often use this method to develop highlights and lighter areas by carefully erasing or lifting material. This is a 4hr workshop so students should bring a light lunch and drink. Additional breaks are as needed. There are no concessions at River House so bring any additional snacks or drinks that you may need as well.
*Supplies Needed:
- Drafting Film – coated on both sides, .0005 weight (Dura-lar)
- Erasers-, Tombow micro eraser, kneaded eraser, white eraser
- Prismacolor pencil set which includes black
- Gamsol or other solvent
- 3in. soft paint brush
This is a one day class held on Thursday, August 7 from 11 to 3 at River House (179 Marine Street, St. Augustine 32084)
