Spanish for Fun and Travel on Mondays in June at River House

with Abigail Dyer

This is an introduction to the Spanish language focusing on words, phrases and social customs rather than grammar. Students will learn pleasantries (nice to meet you, please, thank you); unpleasantries (with hand gestures); words for getting around (where is the___?); words we hope you'll never need (emergency!  police!); along with "filler" words to help beginners sound native, at least for a few seconds.  No prior knowledge of Spanish is necessary.

Abigail Dyer has a BA in Spanish Language and Literature from Vassar College and a Ph.D. in European History from Columbia University. She is fluent in Spanish and German, has lived and worked in Spain and Germany, and has decades of experience teaching foreign languages.

Bring pen and paper for taking notes.
