Fish For Dinner: How to Clean Your Catch on Wednesday, April 15 at River House

Get ready for a morning of excitement and adventure at the picturesque River House located on the Matanzas River! Learn how to clean your catch. Hands on fish cleaning. Each participant will get to clean a fish while being instructed through each step. All methods will be taught. .

This class will meet, rain or shine and will be mainly outdoors, so bring your sunscreen.

Journal Projects: Make Your Own Washi Tape on Monday, April 20 at River House
with Liz Monaco
Washi tape can be used as a decorative element or to bind signature pages together.
Supplies specific to this class:
- Plain 1in. masking tape,
- parchment paper,
- clear gesso,
- acrylic paints (hobby quality is okay) or watercolors,
- Flat paint brush,
- #10 round brush
- gold metallic paint,
- magazines,
- stencils,
- glue stick.
General Supplies needed:
- Journals- blank sketch/watercolor books, or you can hand make a book or alter a book.
- Pens, markers, pencils, rulers, brushes Paints (acrylics, watercolors, inks, metallics)
- Colored pencils
- Collage materials: (magazine clippings, newspapers, paper scraps)
- Glue or adhesives
- Stamps and stencils
- Washi or decorative tapes
- Gesso: white or clear
- Sponges
- Palette knives

Container Gardening and New Beginnings on Monday, April 27 at River House
with Karen Doyle
Pre-enrollment is required so please register here. Enrollment is limited for this program.
Learn successful plant choices and design ideas for planting in pots. Also, learn how to start your own plants from cuttings! Doesn't everyone love FREE plants! There will be an informative and interactive presentation along with a live design/planting demonstration. Then everyone will have the opportunity to do their own, hands-on container of cuttings to take home. If you want to make your own container garden please bring a small container, soil and plants, and Karen can show you how best to plant it.

Create vintage aged papers with decorative patterns that can be used in numerous ways. As signatures, clusters, pockets, tags and more.
Supplies specific to this class:
- two spray bottles - one filled with a strong concentration of coffee and the other one filled with a strong concentration of tea,
- stencils,
- copy Paper,
- envelopes and other ephemera materials,
- two large flat baking sheets with sides.
General Supplies needed:

Want to go fishing and get help learning? Grab your friends and join us for a morning filled with laughs, learning, and of course, fishing! Don't worry about lugging your gear around because all the equipment you need will be provided. Soak up the sun, cast your line, and reel in some unforgettable memories. Whether you're a seasoned angler or a complete beginner, this is your chance to enjoy a morning of fun by the water. Gentle Yoga on Mondays in May at River House
with Scott Farber
This dynamic yet gentle class is for all ages, accommodating beginners as well as those who want to deepen their practice. Using teaching demonstrations and detailed guidance, each class proceeds in a safe and slow way to instruct the basics of (Kripalu) yoga postures, breathwork and meditation. Plenty of modifications and variations will be given for different body types.
Classes are 90 minutes and include an opening centering, gentle warmups, postures (asanas), breathwork (pranayama), and a long closing relaxation (yoga nidra).
Please bring your own yoga mat, water bottle, and blanket or cushion to sit on.
Scott Farber, Ph.D., E-RYT 500/YACEP. Scott has been practicing yoga, meditation, and t'ai chi since the 1970s. A former college professor, with a doctorate in philosophy of education, he has traveled and taught all over the world. He now serves as a lead trainer in the Discovery Yoga School, offering a variety of yoga classes, workshops and teacher trainings.

Jewelry Wire Wrapping Class on Mondays in May at River House

Jewelry art students can expect to learn basic tool use and refine a wire loop in the first class as well as creating a pair of wire wrapped crystal earrings. In subsequent classes we will create spirals combined with crystals to create earrings and advancing to a tree of life wire wrapped pendant as well as a wire link bracelet. Along the way you will learn correct tool usage, wire straightening, wrapped loops, unclosed loops, and making your own loop clasps.
Supplies required:
- VOUIU 6 piece jewelry plier set
- PH Panda Hall 34 color 4mm electroplate glass crystals AB.
- Bencreat wire, roll of 20 gauge and 26 gauge silver wire
- GUFJUCH stainless steel earring hook set, wires, backs, jump rings

Kathy Tengesdahl has an AA degree in art and a BS in Education. She combines that with 35 years of creating Jewelry art and she is adept at bead weaving with a focus on creating with wire wrapping. She has taught for the past 5 yrs in The Villages, Florida and now 7 months living in St Augustine. She hopes you will join her in creating something beautiful that you will be proud to wear.

Tai Chi / Qigong on Mondays in May at River House

Qigong is the art of cultivating our vital energy or life force using gentle movements coordinated with breathing. It promotes health and vitality. Tai Chi is the epitome of qigong. It is a healing art, a moving meditation, and a slow graceful dance. It relaxes the body and focuses the mind. It improves balance and posture. We'll learn a variety of standing qigong methods as well as the famous Cheng Man-Ching (Yang style) Tai Chi form. Please wear loose comfortable clothing and, if possible, flat-bottomed shoes.
Scott Farber, Ph.D., has been practicing and teaching Tai Chi & Qigong for over forty years. He has studied the form, push hands and sword. As an apprentice in the international School of Tai Chi Chuan, he completed fifteen years of intensive teacher training. A former college professor, he now serves as a health and wellness consultant, teaching yoga, tai chi and meditation.
